About GameTale
94 ways to read the fairy tale & 20 endings to the story
The book is already translated in English and it is available as a free e-book as of right now (PDF, iPad 2+, Kindle Fire). You can have a look and download it directly from their website. So why is this campaign then? The goal is to fund a minimum print run of 1,000 luxury copies in English for those who wish to own one. The e-book (PDF) is also available in Russian, Italian and Latvian.
Our hero in the story - Gremmy
The little gremlin Gremmy has little adventurous pawsies that don't get tired easily, a trembly-trembly tail, a nosy nosie and little earsies (which are actually quite big) that like to listen to songbirds' singsongs. His tummy is always hungry, but most important of all, he has a big heart! And the best part? You get to choose the adventures of Gremmy! Go and play GameTale: The Big Adventure of the Little Gremlin for FREE!
Free book? Really?
The author Nikola Raykov shares more about why he made his book free to download and play:
"People ask me all the time why I decided this, and they’re right to. It's rather unusual for an author to release his books absolutely free, isn't it?
I believe it would be cruel if children weren't able to enjoy my books because their parents could not afford them, and children's authors should not be cruel. They should be gentle, caring and loving. The values we write about should not be just words on paper. We should be the living and breathing examples of those values, because what we write HAS to be true. Every good author will tell you that you cannot lie to your readers (or little listeners). They will catch you in a second. When you read a book, you can actually feel if the author is being honest about his or her inner self."
For Parents & Teachers
Shortly after the release of the first book, many teachers, educators and psychologists started to notice his GameTale for its potential to engage the children and develop their personal and social skills. Those books have been recognized for their innovative interactive approach towards children and are considered an excellent tool for:
- Developing a sense of freedom and personal responsibility
(through understanding the importance of our choices in the story) - Sparking children's imagination
(through developing a story in a non-linear fashion) - Nurturing love for the world, empathy and understanding
(through developing entirely positive books) - Developing positive adult-child interactions
(with greater value when an adult reads to (plays with) the child) - Working with children with special needs
(through fear management, teamwork and social engagement developed in the game) - Nurturing a love of reading and promoting child literacy
(gamebooks are excellent tool for "difficult" readers)
